ORMSTOWN: Last week two farmers in this vicinity were plowing. The continued mild weather has been favourable; buds are swelling, and grass is green in sheltered places. The maple syrup made this year is far short of the usual quantity.
KELSO: A bunch of May flowers in bloom was plucked here yesterday (Monday). To find May flowers in March is not common.
HEMMINGFORD: Mr. Thomas Boyes has secured a piece of land and intends placing a separator 1.5 miles north of Corbin. We understand he has secured the milk of 250 to 300 cows. The separator will be run by Mr. St. Hilaire, formerly with Mr. Gamblin, and the cream conveyed to the Frontier factory for manufacture.
DUNDEE: The steamboats are being fitted up, and will soon be ready for service.

HOWICK: A new flooring is being laid on the Turcot bridge over the Chateauguay River. Vehicles are prohibited from crossing. The work is expected to be finished on Thursday. Little or no sugar making has been done in this vicinity owing to steady frosty weather.
SAINTE-MARTINE: Sugar men were preparing the spouts and buckets last Saturday but they remained in the sugar-houses ever since.

Two Huntingdon lads made an interesting discovery near town this weekend – a large snapping turtle with the date 1911 carved into its shell. The snapper was found near Cluff’s creek by Mark Reed and Harold Kruik… The turtle was later released unharmed.
Game birds raised in the Ormstown area are attracting gourmets’ attention across Canada. As a matter of fact, Charlie Douglas, manager of Clearbrook Game Farm on the Gore Road, is hard put to produce enough pheasants and chukar partridges to meet the ever-increasing demand.
