The 152nd edition of the Havelock Fair is set to take place on September 14 and 15.
As always, both days will feature live music, antique cars, machinery, and snowmobile displays, as well as displays by the Chateauguay Valley Garden Tractor Club.
Children’s activities will also be available on both days, including educational kiosks organized by École-O-Champ, as well as a petting zoo, inflatable games, and face painting. The transitional break in the horse show for children’s races in the ring will take place from 12:30 to 1 p.m.
As per tradition, local organizations and artisans will be present with various kiosks and booths throughout the weekend.
Visitors on Saturday will be able to enjoy a horse show and gymkhana, dairy cattle and 4-H showmanship exhibitions, and a beef, sheep, goat, and pig show. Havelock Fair president Keith McAdam says this year’s edition will also feature the return of poultry to the barns after several years absence due to concerns over avian flu.
Along with the regular activities, Sunday’s schedule includes a heavy horse show, heritage livestock show, an Ayrshire cattle show, and a miniature horse and pony show. McAdam says the organizers of the horse show are expecting around 30 minis and ponies.
McAdam adds that a great lineup of musicians has been confirmed, and there will be the usual selection in terms of food options, including the chicken dinner in collaboration with the 1st Huntingdon Scouts. Members of the Girl Guides will also be on hand to help with the children’s activities.
