The Hemmingford Sports Committee (HSC) runs the municipal dek hockey and soccer league, which has over 150 players involved between the two sports. This season’s end-of-year celebration on September 7 will include the annual awards ceremony, as well as a special fundraiser activity.
“While all the proceeds from our events usually go to our organization, we decided to give back this year,” says HSC’s vice president, Devon Watt. “Our inspiration … was the number-one fan of any athlete: their mom,” she explains, noting the committee is hoping to raise $3,000 to help fight women’s cancers.
The event will take place at the recreation centre and is open to all Hemmingford families as of 11 a.m. There will be food trucks on site, as well as inflatable games, backyard games, bubble soccer, and other activities for children including face painting and airbrush tattoos. The event will also include a variety of parent-child races and family-oriented activities.
The sports award gala will then close out the day around 3 p.m. (SR)
