Boaters discovered the lifeless body of a man in his twenties on Lake Saint-François near Sainte-Barbe on Monday afternoon.
According to Agence QMI, Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers were first called around 10 a.m. after a personal watercraft was found adrift near Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka. After an initial investigation, the police learned a man in his twenties was missing.
SQ spokesperson Catherine Bernard confirmed a search was launched to locate the individual. The police were called around 2:30 p.m. after a body was spotted by boaters. Officers recovered the unconscious individual from the water soon after. “The individual was taken immediately to a nearby hospital,” confirmed Bernard, who noted there was reason to fear for his life. “At first glance, he appears to be the missing person.”
An SQ investigation is ongoing to determine the cause and circumstances behind this unfortunate situation.
