The Sûreté du Québec are investigating the violent death of a 30-year-old man who was killed Wednesday evening in Saint-Chrysostome. The investigation follows a large police operation that closed a section of the Bryson Sideroad in Ormstown early Thursday morning.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has confirmed that officers were called to a home in Saint-Chrysostome around 9:30 p.m. on March 5 in response to an altercation between two individuals. When officers arrived, they found a man in his thirties with serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A man in his thirties fled the scene in Saint-Chrysostome before the police arrived. A representative for the SQ confirms the suspect returned to his residence in Ormstown, where he was arrested around 8 a.m. on Thursday following an intervention involving several officers, including members of the SQ’s tactical squad.
The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment and will be questioned by investigators when his health permits.
Officers from the SQ’s Crimes Against the Person Division have taken over the investigation, which is being considered a homicide. Technicians from the Forensic Identification Division were on site Thursday to help establish the circumstances surrounding this event.
The SQ has not confirmed the name of the victim, or the suspect involved in this case. (SR)
