Comedian and magician Martin Rozon sparked some big laughs and amazed looks as he showcased his impressive sleight of hand on stage at Chateauguay Valley Regional High School before an audience of around 60 people on February 8. The evening took place during Suicide Prevention Week to benefit the Comité detresse sociale of the Haut-Saint-Laurent. Marc André Bédard, who is the director general of the non-profit organization Pont du Suroît and a member of the social distress committee, introduced the magician while speaking about the importance of local mental health resources. The committee works to monitor the situation in the Haut-Saint-Laurent regarding social distress and suicide, to establish mechanisms to respond to crises within the community, to raise awareness of issues related to social and psychological distress and suicide, and to support those in need.
