The Centre d’hébergement du comté de Huntingdon (CHSLD) has been selected as the second location in the Haut-Saint-Laurent to benefit from a My Village, My Community project.
The initiative will take shape between September 18-20 when students, artists, and community volunteers will come together to create a village of murals designed to transform the living environment into a warm, familiar setting for residents.
The premise of the intergenerational project has evolved from the first village created at the Centre d’Hébergement de Ormstown, and this new project will incorporate nods to certain locations and points of interest in the Haut-Saint-Laurent, such as the farmers’ market, agricultural landscapes, orchards, lakes and waterways, and everyday life. Organizers say the project will also include several surprises for residents and visitors.
The project has received funding through the Grace Dart Foundation. It was co-initiated by Les Aidants du Haut-Saint-Laurent and the Alzheimer Society Suroît, in partnership with the Comité de concertation des ainés du Haut-Saint-Laurent, the Huntingdon County CHSLD, and École secondaire Arthur-Pigeon.
