O-Ho quilting guild celebrates 30 years

Members of the O-Ho quilting guild have been designing, piecing and quilting up a storm over of the last two years.

The resulting works of textile art were displayed as part of the group’s biennial show on September 18 and 19 at the Ormstown Curling Club. Over 100 pieces were part of the exhibition, which covered every inch of wall space. The event also included several vendors, demonstrations, and a tearoom.

At the entrance, a string of windsocks was hung along one wall. Grace Brown, who is one of the guild’s founding members, has crafted each piece using leftover blocks and fabric used in the group’s donation quilt for each show since 2002. This year’s donation quilt and windsock celebrated the 30th anniversary of the guild, which started in 1996.

As always, all the proceeds from this year’s show will be donated to local charities. (SR)
