Yvan Legendre couldn’t help but smile as he was wrapped in a Quilt of Valour sponsored by the Ormstown branch of the Royal Canadian Legion on April 2.
Around 20 family members and Legion members were gathered, as Quilts of Valour vice president Camilla Gallibois presented Legendre with his quilt as a symbol of respect and gratitude for his sacrifice to the country.
“I am very honoured,” said Legendre, who worked as a mechanic with the Canadian Armed Forces for 27 years. His quilt was made with material featuring different military vehicles. The top was made in Ottawa and then sent to Lennoxville where it was put together.
Legendre was the second Ormstown Legion member to receive a quilt. Catherine Poupart was also presented with a Quilt of Valour made by members of the O-Ho quilting guild two weeks earlier on March 16. She referred to the ceremony as having been very touching. (SR)
