OSEntreprendre Challenge: École Arthur-Pigeon students win at regional finals

The Centre de services scolaires de la Vallée-des-Tisserands (CSSVT) announced the local winners in the education category of the Défi OSEntreprendre challenge on April 22.

Four schools and their respective entrepreneurial projects were recognized, including the École Frédéric-Girard and École de la Baie-Saint-François in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, the École Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix in Beauharnois, and École Arthur-Pigeon in Huntingdon.

The jury, which included representatives from the CSSVT and the Carrefour Jeunesse emploi Beauharnois-Salaberry, reviewed nine projects in total.

École Arthur-Pigeon won with their Jardins d’Arthur gardening project, in which Grade 9, 10, and 11 students learned to grow vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings that were then sold to the community.

“The OSEntreprendre Challenge highlights the passion, enthusiasm, and motivation of our students,” says CSSVT director general Suzie Vranderick, who says she believes student involvement in projects encourages their entrepreneurial spirit and helps them to develop their full potential. “These initiatives not only enable them to acquire new knowledge, but also to develop various skills related to their academic path,” she explains.

Certificates of recognition were awarded to the four local finalists, whose projects moved on to the Montérégie final which took place at the end of April. (SR)
