Limited access to Saint-Louis bridge
The Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague bridge will be completely closed during the week between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. until at least November 19 due to construction work on Rue du Pont. The bridge will have alternating traffic during evenings and weekends. The work is being conducted by the Ministère de Transport and the municipality. Drivers should use the Larocque Bridge to access Salaberry-de-Valleyfield during the week.

Land in Dundee
The Commité historique de Dundee will host a presentation on 19th century township landholdings on Thursday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the city hall. The talk will be given in French, with a bilingual discussion afterwards, and is free to attend.
Art show
The Little Green Library (4 Lorne Street, Huntingdon) will be holding a vernissage for artist Kira Welburn on Saturday, October 26, from 2 to 4 p.m.
H’ford Legion chicken BBQ dinner
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 26, as the Hemmingford Legion is serving another delicious chicken dinner! Reservations only; call Lise Brown at 514-705-2192 by Friday, October 25. The meal consists of a large half chicken, baked potato, gravy, coleslaw, dinner roll, and dessert – all for only a $20 donation. Pick up will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Legion Hall at 486 Rue Champlain. Also, hot dogs or Michigans are served every Thursday between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.
‘A Taste of History’
The Chateauguay Valley Historical Society is hosting a meal and presentation on the Beauharnois Canal by award-winning author Roland Viau, on Sunday, October 27, at the Ormstown Legion (33 Prince Albert Street). Doors open at 11:30 a.m., a buffet lunch will be served at noon, and the presentation begins at 1:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend the presentation, but donations are appreciated. Brysonville Schoolhouse is hosting an evening of music and dancing on Friday, November 1, at 7 p.m. in the new dining hall in the Ormstown fair grounds. No entry fee, but donations accepted.

This long-running fave fundraising event for the Barrie Memorial Hospital by its Women’s Auxiliary happens on November 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at CVR, and sure is a handy way to get some holiday shopping done!

The first Chateauguay Valley Historical Journal was published in 1968, and over the years, has featured over 700 articles about the region’s history.
