On Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Huntingdon Adult Education Community Center (HAECC) will be hosting its second annual Valley Fest and plant sale.
Local vendors and community kiosks will be present to showcase talent, with items ranging from painting, accessories, 3D printed fidgets, fun decor, and much more. Also available for purchase will be a wide selection of greenhouse-grown plants produced locally by the students in the Horticulture program at HAECC.
When asked what this event means to HAECC, community development agent McKenzie Hooker said, “We are doing this to promote the trades at our centre and to bring the community together. We invited community organizations and offered free tables for local vendors to showcase their work.”
Family-friendly activities and entertainment will be available in the form of bouncy castles and a free interactive kids’ corner hosted by the Centre De Ressources Familiales (CRF), the Monteregie West Community Network (MWCN), and Ancre et Ailes. Food and refreshments will also be available at a low cost.
“We incorporated guided tours of HAECC’s facility to encourage ongoing education, and we will have trade tables set up for information on programs including landscaping, health care, horticulture and carpentry,” Hooker explains.
Suitable for all ages, HAECC’s Valley Fest will be an informative and fun-filled day to start the spring season with beautiful plants to begin gardening.
“It doesn’t have to be a costly outing,” adds Hooker. “Come have fun, spend a part of your Saturday with us, and see what we have to offer. We look forward to bringing the community together.”
