A fatal road accident occurred on the Rang 40 in Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague around 6:15 a.m. on December 23.
According to an article published by the Journal le Saint-François, the 37-year-old driver from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, was attempting to pass another vehicle when he lost control of his own.
Stéphane Tremblay, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, reported the driver was unconscious when first responders arrived on the scene. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. According to Tremblay, speed and the dangerous weather conditions are being considered as contributing factors.
