VAN WINDEN, Carolyn

The family of Carolyn van Winden is saddened to inform our community of her loss on Monday, April 8th, 2024. Born 1963, in Huntingdon, to Jacoba and Gerard van Winden, Carolyn was a true connoisseur of the Valley, especially of Dundee, Ste. Agnes, Godmanchester and the Beaver Road.

She leaves behind her children Jackie (Shawn), Jeff (Jelena), Krysten (Cole), mother-in-law Georgina Lamb, as well as her very smart and nearly perfect grandchildren; Isla, Charlie, Margo and Wesley, brother-in-law Jim (Debbie) in addition to many nieces and nephews. Carolyn is predeceased by her husband, David Lamb, with whom she worked alongside everyday.

She is survived by siblings Anthony, Jenny, Mary, Pete and Patricia and was predeceased by Adrian and Maggie. They were an important part of her life, and all the van Windens looked out for each other, raising their kids and visiting often.

As a young person, Carolyn participated in tractor pulls and horse shows across the Valley, speed walking in high school, as well as softball and broomball as a young adult. An adventure to Alberta was cut short when she met and soon married David. They grew their farm twice over and founded various enterprises on and off their farm, leaving behind the value of entrepreneurship in their children.

Carolyn enjoyed a ladies hockey league, and was proud to finally learn how to stop like a pro and skate backwards! She enjoyed many seasons with the girls on Tuesday nights. Later she enjoyed travelling to visit family and friends.

We would like to thank our community and friends near and far for their love and support. We also thank the staff at the Barrie Memorial Hospital, we are grateful for your kindness, compassion and dedication.

Visitations will be held at Rodrigue Montpetit & Fils Funeral Home 170, Chateauguay Street, Huntingdon, Québec, J0S 1H0, 450-264-5331, Funeral at Huntingdon Saint-Joseph Church and Burial at Ste-Agnes-de-Dundee Cemetery in mid-July 2024.

Online condolences and tributes may be made at www.rodriguemontpetitfils.com.
