Vankleek Hill square dance competition

The 2023 Vankleek Hill square dancing was a great success. Over COVID, many clubs lost their members and especially their seniors. Yet at the competition there were four junior teams and seven senior teams from Quebec to western Ontario. Ormstown had one junior team and two senior teams present, with one of our senior teams having two Howick members. Our junior team placed 3rd and our senior teams placed 6th and 4th. The competition began at 11 a.m. and ended around 3 p.m. It was hosted by the Vankleek Hill High School and a pizza lunch was provided. The master caller was our own Angela Neal, with the fiddler, Neil McKay, and a judge, Bruce Barr, also being from the area. Square dancing is a fun experience that I highly recommend participating in. I hope to see everyone come back next year, and I would like to give a special thank-you to Stephanie Maynard and Christina Knox for coaching our teams. Spencer Mason, Ormstown 4-H square dancing vice president
