The now-iconic New Frontiers School Board Continuing Education sunglasses will be back for a 15th year at Expo Ormstown.
The board distributes up to 4,500 of them at the fair. “We were looking for something to give away,” said Kirsten Goldthorp, the executive secretary of Continuing Ed. “They are easy to carry, and we are always hoping for a sunny day,” she explained.
The colour is a fiercely guarded secret, admitted Godlthorp, who tries to choose a new shade each year. “It has become a tradition, and people seem to like them,” she said, noting the glasses are a great conversation starter.
“They remember us, and they always come back,” she said of the fairgoers who change up their eyewear style each year. The only hint she will give for this year’s look is that they are not green. (SR)
