On December 5, Grade 5 and 6 students from Ormstown Elementary School waited with anticipation as Pamela Mulderrig from the Lions Club announced the 2024 winner of the annual poster contest. This year’s theme was “Peace Without Limits.” 94 students from Notre Dame de Rosaire (NDR), Gault Institute, Heritage Elementary, Franklin Elementary, and Ormstown Elementary (OES) participated in this contest. Students aged 11 to 13 were asked to create posters that defined this year’s theme. All first-place winners progressed to the district level. NDR student Nadia Amari then progressed to the district level where she placed third.
The winners were as follows: from NDR, Nadia Amari placed in first place, Alice Brault placed in second place, and Anouk Gibeault placed in third place. From Gault Institute, Eva Bolduc placed in first place, Jamie Daoust place in second place, and Regina Sandova placed in third place. At Heritage Elementary Hayden Genier was in first place, Jabob Geary was in second place, and in third place was Charlotte Lukessen. From Franklin Elementary, Olivia Buchanan, Jaden Dupuis, and Sawyer Greenhalgh finished in that order; and from OES, first place was claimed by Caleb Moss, Harry Vroom took second place, and Charlotte Kotar was in third place.
Muldrerrig commended all the participants who worked hard. “You thought about peace for a moment. That’s what is important,” she said. All 94 posters will be on display in March 2025 at the annual Lions Club Brunch which will be held in the Ormstown recreation centre.
