The Ormstown Kioti Pro Rodeo is once again being recognized on the international stage.
The International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA) announced the nominations for its top five year-end award finalists on December 19, and the Ormstown Kioti Pro Rodeo made the list in two categories.
The event has been recognized as one of the top five best new IPRA rodeos, and as one of the top five indoor rodeos of 2024. In both categories, the Ormstown Kioti Pro rodeo is the sole nominee from Canada. Only one other Canadian rodeo was nominated for another award: the Festival Western de St-Tite was tapped as one of the top five outdoor rodeos of 2024.
The Ormstown arena “is such a great venue, and there is so much local support and volunteers,” said Matt Fisher of the BlackCreek Rodeo Company which produces the Ormstown rodeo. “It wouldn’t have received this award without everyone involved,” he added.
The winners of the year-end awards will be announced at the IPRA’s annual Gold Buckle Gala, which is set to take place at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City on January 15.
Fisher has confirmed that the Ormstown stop will once again be on the BlackCreek Rodeo circuit this May. (SR)
