The Sûreté du Québec have launched a homicide investigation after a body was found in a home in Saint-Anicet on January 25.
Officers from the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent detachment were called to intervene at a residence located on chemin Rivière la Guerre around 9 a.m. Once there, officers discovered a body. The victim was found unconscious and was declared dead at the scene.
A man in his 50s, who was present at the scene, was arrested. According to a report by the Canadian Press, the police are treating the death as a homicide. Police spokesperson Camille Savoie confirmed the man was questioned by investigators on Saturday afternoon.
A crime scene has been established, and the investigation is ongoing. The Journal Saint-François reports that forensic identification technicians were called to the scene.
The Sûreté du Québec has not identified the victim and would not say whether the body showed signs of violence when it was discovered. (SR)
